Research Papers

I wrote this paper for the Berkeley course called “Music in American Culture”. This paper talks about the Forbidden City USA, a nightclub in the Bay Area that was founded in 1938. The nightclub was an outlet for Asian Americans to express their culture through singing and dancing. In the paper I discuss how the nightclub affected the way Asian Americans were treated, and how they were able to keep their culture alive through song and dance.

I wrote this paper for the Berkeley Course, “Music in American Culture”. This paper is about my personal music identities, teaching about traditional hindustani music and also Taylor Swift and how her music resonates with me.

Afropop Worldwide is dedicated to African and African diaspora music. The website offers articles, radio programs, and features on the rich and diverse musical traditions of the continent and its diaspora.
